Birri Pathways with Solar Victoria
In partnership with Solar Victoria, the Birri Pathways program in Renewable
Energy offers 20 First Nations young people the chance to step into one of
Australia’s fastest-growing industries.
About the Program
Birri Pathways in Renewable Energy offers First Nations young people real-world exposure to clean energy roles, aiding decisions about further study, training or employment.
Clean energy offers a wide range of career opportunities, including:
- Electrical and plumbing trades
- Apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships
- Construction, installation and maintenance roles
- Administrative, coordination and technical support roles
- Engineering and project management pathways
The program offers early exposure for senior secondary students, plus job-readiness and placement support for job seekers. Flexible and participant-focused, it recognises diverse paces, opportunities & barriers.
The program is built on:
- Identity and cultural connection
- Mentoring and trusted relationships
- Workplace exposure in real industry settings
- Individualised pathway planning
- Ongoing support into employment or further study
Birri Pathways in Renewable Energy is funded through Solar Victoria’s
Electrification Skills Program and will support participants through to
30 June 2027.
There is a significant skills shortage. Supporting First Nations
pathways means supporting industry – building a strong, skilled
workforce for Victoria’s future.
